Admitting/Pre-Registration
Admitting Department
Western Medical Center Anaheim’s Admitting personnel are vital to the successful operation of the hospital. The admitting office is frequently referred to as the “Nerve Center” of the hospital, being primarily responsible for the admission of patients in accordance with hospital policies and state regulations.
Your first impression of our hospital will leave the most lasting impression and it is our goal to provide you, the patient, with an admitting representative who is efficient and sympathetic to your needs. Our goal is to provide you with a positive patient-hospital experience during your admitting process that will remain with you throughout your hospital stay and long afterward.
Hours of Operations
Admitting Department hours are twenty-four (24) hours a day/seven (7) days a week.
· Main Lobby Admitting – 6:00am – 8:30pm
o Registers and processes paperwork for all outpatient surgery patients, direct admits and pre-planned hospital stays
· Emergency Room Admitting – 24 hours a day/7 days a week
o Registers and processes paperwork for all emergency patients, and emergency room admissions and admissions after 8:00pm
Pre-Admission
WMCA offers pre-admission for all non-emergency patients. By completing the admission paperwork in advance, WMCA is able to speed up the admission process.
Interpreter Services
WMCA accommodates patients who are disabled due to hearing loss, sight loss, physically challenged, or lack the ability to communicate in English and will initiate a plan to accommodate the patient’s impairment.
Insurance Programs
Our staff is here to assist you in answering questions prior to your admission as it relates to insurance eligibility, cash rates, payment plans, and financial assistance.
· WMCA contracts with most major Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) and most major Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO) for hospital services. WMCA also participates in government programs such as Medicare and MediCal.
o Your hospitalization insurance coverage is a contract between you and your insurance company. Insurance plans do not always provide full coverage of your hospital bill. While we will do what we can to expedite your claim, patients, regardless of the coverage, are ultimately responsible for your entire hospital bill.
o It is expected that you will pay the portion of the account not covered by health insurance prior to admission or prior to discharge. You may pay by cash, check, traveler’s check, money order, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover card.
o During your hospitalization, you will be given only those tests and medications ordered by your physician. The daily rate you are charged for hospitalization includes your room, general nursing care, meals and support services. All physicians who treat you in the hospital are independent contractors and will bill you separately for their services. Thus, their fees will not be reflected in your hospital bill. You may be billed by your primary physician as well as your anesthesiologist, pathologist, radiologist, emergency department physician or any other physician(s) your doctor consults regarding your care.
· Self Pay Estimates - WMCA also offers cash rates to individuals who do not have insurance. A Self Pay patient is a patient who does not have insurance or is paying out of pocket for non-covered services. Self Pay patients qualify for a special Hospital discount when services are paid at time of service.
· If you are a Self Pay patient and admitted through the Emergency Room, a Financial Counselor will visit you in your room to discuss your financial obligations. Based on information provided, you may be referred to our Medical Eligibility Worker to be screened for any Government Programs that you may qualify for.
