The International Services Program was developed for the sole purpose of providing quality health care and service to our binational community, including patients and their families who, due to work, lifestyle or personal choice, select health care services at a United States hospital.

Once enrolled with our International Services Intake Coordinator, hospital admission, financial counseling and insurance benefit coordination is designed to quick and easy. Patient information is maintained on our database for easy coordination with other hospital departments, and interpreter services are available when needed.

As a community-based hospital, we understand the importance of coordinating a safe return to home, health and family. We encourage you to contact your personal physician and advise us on how to reach him or her for efficient coordination prior to and during hospitalization. With over 25 years of experience providing health care leadership and service, we work hard to be your preferred healthcare resource.

Alvarado Plus

Alvarado Plus is a special program offering services designed to accommodate the needs of our international patients. We understand that coordinating health care services from afar can be stressful. This program was developed with your long distance needs in mind. A personal identification card will allow you access to our wide range of medical programs and services. Once enrolled in this program, International Services representatives are available to assist you in accessing a physician to meet your needs.

Travel and Accommodations

Our International Services office will be happy to coordinate transportation and accommodations for you. If traveling by air, San Diego's international airport at Lindbergh Field provides easy access to Alvarado Hospital via major freeways. Tijuana's international airport, situated on the eastern edge of the city near the Otay Mesa border crossing, is approximately 25 miles south of Alvarado.
