Alvarado Hospital’s Cancer Center provides comprehensive services for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, as well as education and support for cancer patients and their families. Utilizing advanced imaging equipment and a variety of diagnostic and treatment options, we strive to provide each patient with quality and compassionate care within comfortable surroundings.

The Cancer Center’s multidisciplinary team is made up of Board-certified oncologists supported by specialists in infectious disease, respiratory, pulmonary, gynecology, hematology, neurology and otorhinolaryngology.

Radiation oncology services are provided on-site. In addition to linear accelerator and conventional radiotherapy, specialized services include radioactive implants/seeds, electron beam therapy, and hyperthermia.

Chemotherapeutic agents are prepared by our on-campus pharmacy for both inpatient and outpatient administration. Other pharmaceutical services include management of antibiotic dosaging and parenteral nutrition support.

Breast Health Services

Accredited by the American College of Radiology, the Alvarado Breast Center utilizes low-dose screening mammography and a stereotactic biopsy unit. The Center’s mammography screening program encourages patients to follow American Cancer Society guidelines.

Cancer Resource Center

Established in association with the American Cancer Society, our Cancer Resource Center provides education, information and referral services—a convenient single source for information on risk reduction, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Visitors have free access to on-line cancer information and related publications and periodicals from sources such as the National Cancer Institute, the Centers for Disease Control, and other sources.

Additional Services Include:

“Reach for Our Hand”, a proactive outreach program that provides information, counseling and community resources to cancer patients and their families.
